The Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach shares the following announcement:
Columban missionary Fr. Sean McDonagh is selected to receive the Partnership for Global Justice’s eighth annual Justice Award for being an international voice in the areas of faith, ecology, and justice. The Partnership for Global Justice is a network of religious congregations that advocate at the United Nations of which Columbans have been members for a number of years.
The ceremony, held on May 1, 2011 in New York City at St. Paul’s Church, will be attended by Fr. Sean McDonagh, Fr. John Burger, a member of the Columban General Council and Ms. Amy Woolam Echeverria, Director of the Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach in Washington, DC.
Fr. Arturo Aguilar, Director of the Columban U.S. Region had this to say, "We celebrate this honor and are grateful to Sean for his pioneering work. This recognition reflects both Sean’s individual contribution to a global community of people committed to JPIC, and the Society’s conviction that JPIC is at the heart of preaching the Gospel and Columban mission".
Following the ceremony in New York City, Sean will also receive recognition in Washington, D.C., at a reception on May 16 organized by the Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach (CCAO), where local partners, friends, and supporters of Columbans will gather to celebrate.
