In addition to his
administrative responsibilities, Father Pavlik previously ministered in areas
of religious formation for his community as the Provincial Secretary of
Formation. Earlier, he served as Guardian and Director of Formation at Capuchin
College in Washington, where he collaborated in the preparation of
religious candidates for ordination to the priesthood. As
Provincial, he visited and presided at the chapters of his Province's
vice-provinces in Papua New Guinea and Puerto Rico. He also sought to
strengthen bonds with the Capuchins Friars in Kerala, India. Over the
years, Father Pavlik was called upon to facilitate provincial chapters in three
other Capuchin jurisdictions. Likewise, he has served the North
American and Pacific Capuchin Conference as President, which entailed
participation in international meetings in Italy, working to form and oversee a
single novitiate program for the Capuchin Conference.
As
Provincial, Father Pavlik dedicated his energies to numerous issues, i.e.
recruitment, initial and ongoing formation, care for aging and ill members, as
well as the structural review of significant areas of the Province's
well-being, such as finances, health care, development, mission funding,
formation and collaboration with diocesan bishops.
Born in
New Kensington in western Pennsylvania, Father Pavlik has also lived in Ohio,
Maryland, and the District of Columbia. He holds a Master of Arts in
literature and a Master of Divinity. He will begin his first three-year
term as CMSM Executive Director on August 15, 2011. He succeeds the Rev.
Paul Lininger, OFM Conv., who is completing six years as Executive Director.
