Upcoming Annual Meeting:
We are pleased to announce our Annual Meeting to be held in New York City on Sunday, May 1, 2010 from 1 PM to 6 PM. The program will consist of a luncheon and speaker, Rev. Sean McDonagh, SSC. The justice award this year will be presented to Farher McDonagh.
Rev. Sean McDonagh, SSC, is a Columban priest of Ireland, who after years working with the tribal people in the Philippines as their forest habitat was destroyed by logging, has given his most recent years of his priesthood to working for global environmental change. He is a lecturer and prolific writer and a leading thinker in the field of Eco-Theology. His recent books include: The Death of Life: The Horror of Extinction (2005) and Climate Change: The Challenge to All of Us (2007).
In addition, there will be a brief orientation to the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) which will be held at UN Headquarters, NYC, from May 2nd through May 13th. Our members and guests are welcome to participate in some or all the CSD commission meetings. There is no charge for attending the CSD, however, one must register through an NGO several months prior to the May 2nd opening.
Invitation to Participate in UN Commissions in 2011
You are invited to participate in the some or all of the upcoming commission meetings which will be held during the first part of 2011. Through your membership with the Partnership for Global Justice, you are allowed to register and participate in the commissions as NGO participants. There is no charge to attend the commissions, but each participate is responsible for their own transportation and room and board.

February 22 to March 4: UN Commission on the Status of Women
May 2 -14: UN Commission on Sustainable Development, May 2-14
May 16-27: UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples: May 16-27
International Day Prayer for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17):
From the International Co-Promoters of Justice in Rome : The Justice promoters of all religious in Rome have set aside the 17th of October as Eradicate Poverty Day. International Day Prayer for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17): The theme of the prayer service will be the eradication of poverty. The following languages translations - English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Albanian, Russian, Romanian, Swahili and Slovak. World Day of Prayer and Action for Children, November 20On 20 November, child rights advocates and religious leaders from every faith will be joining together in the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children. This updated site will make it easier to find and share resources for those planning events on 20 November and for all those working to improve the world for children.
The World Day of Prayer and Action mobilizes the enormous influence and resources of a key partner – the world’s religious communities -- to work with secular organizations around the globe on behalf of children. Through a unique combination of faith celebrations, prayer and tangible projects, the World Day focuses attention and action on reaching the world’s goals for its youngest citizens.
